ENGEES

ENGEES (Ecole Nationale de l’eau et de l’environnement de Strasbourg) is a civil and environment engineer school.

Future engineers are trained in the fields of: urban hydraulics; public amenities (drinking water, sani- tation, waste); sustainable spatial planning; management of environmental and sanitary risks management of public utilities. Its research department is composed of four units; two of them (GESTE, ICUBE) are involved in the project.

GESTE (territorial management for water and environment) is a joint Research unit IRSTEA-ENGEES. GESTE is a multidisciplinary team in economics, public management, sociology and urban engineering work- ing in fields such as environmental economics, social acceptability of equipment, risk analysis, public policies, and sustainable asset management for water and sewer systems. GESTE was involved in EU projects CARE-W, CARE-S and INDIGAU which where focused on asset management for water or sewer pipes, so taking into account accidental failures and in SMaRT-OnlineWDN on the risk analysis and impact assessment of water network contamination.

ICUBE is a joint research unit CNRS-Strasbourg University-INSA-ENGEES, divided in 4 departments. The mechanical department includes the fluid mechanics team who aims to study e.g. the urban sanitation, water supply and distribution of drinking water and metrology. The scientific approach is firstly on a coupled ap- proach between experience, theory and modelling and also on two transverse issues concerning looking for the best digital tools and metrology. This partner had been involved in several metrological projects (e.g. experimental protocol to determine Doppler velocimeters capacities, assessment of flow rate measuring sites in sewage systems) and in the project SMaRT-OnlineWDN in the development of a digital network model. A large laboratory with hydraulic pilots is available.
