Fraunhofer IOSB

The Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation (IOSB) develops tech- nologies and systems in the business segments of automation, energy and the environment, civil security, defence and visual inspection.

Two departments of IOSB will be involved in the project: (1) Department Measurement, Control and Diagnosis Systems (MRD) with it’s main research areas Data Mining, Machine Learning, simulation and optimisation of complex processes (e.g. water distribution networks). In the recent years, MRD has been contributed to several projects in the field of civil security of water infrastructures (STATuS, AquaBioTox, SMaRT-OnlineWDN, SAFEWATER). (2) The department Secure Communication Architectures (SKA) develops secure IT architectures for business environments. This includes VPN structures, intrusion detection, firewalling, and content security. For more than 20 years, SKA is responsible for security aspects of the Fraunhofer-WAN, a VPN-structure connecting 100 research units. Within the EU- Projects PRECYSE, CYSPA, and PREEMPTIVE, the department SKA investigates and develops security measures for critical infrastructures, mainly for the energy sector.
